A Dam Slide and Rope Swing Jump

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This weekend included river adventures.  I did two things I have never done before.  I slid down a dam and I swung on a rope and jumped in the river.

When I slid down the dam, I was not expecting the bumpy concrete to rumble my bum.  It did not really hurt, but it was slightly uncomfortable.  Lucky there was no permanent damage.

The next day, my arms were quite sore.  I will say that swinging on that rope was a little more difficult than I anticipated.  I came to the realization that my grip is a bit weaker than I prefer, and I did not ‘hang on’ to the rope quite as long as I would have liked.  Had I been able to hang on longer, I would have swung out further.   When I watched my 18 year old daughter do it, I could see there is improvement to be had (on my part anyway).

So this brings to light something I really already knew.  My upper body is weaker than I prefer.   I had been going to the Body Pump classes at Gold’s Gym, but I stopped.  I seriously need to start that back up again.  That is when I felt the best.

Time to get stronger.  Let’s do this thing.

weeeee – watch me go
