I Am Woman

I Am Woman
By: Debra Sue Higginbotham (Yes, that’s me)

I am woman, hear me roar.

Watch me stumble. See me soar.

Feel my presence. Sense the heat.

Applaud my path, or take a seat.

I am not subtle. I am not shy.

I make no apology, if you ask why.

I may not be, their cup of tea;

And that’s okay – – I can only be me.

Marching to a beat, of a self-made drum.

I may dance or jump or sing, or just hum.

I drive the dirt roads, with wind in my hair,

Inhaling the presence – of life debonair.

I am female! All heart, body and soul.

I seek new heights; as I set a new goal.

I look for light – where others see dark.

I shift into drive – as some put it into park.

I may turn it up – just as you’re turning it down.

I say Love is a verb.  Others will call it a noun.

Some folks believe in luck.  Me? Well I do not.

I believe in blessings.  And giving it all I’ve got.

Tell me that I can’t. I will tell you that I can.

Knowing with clarity, my dad is my biggest fan.

Mom is up in Heaven, with cheers that do ring loud.

Yet I can only pray, that I make them both so proud.

I am woman. You will hear me roar.

Even if it starts, as a whisper in my core.

I am female.  Every piece and every part.

If you hear my laughter. Then, you do see my heart.

  1. That’s awesome!

And on a completely different note, I think you should tip your hair blue. 😉
