Longevity Woman?

On this day in history back in 1974 – a show called “Wonder Woman” debuted on television and I was about 5 years old. It was very popular. Even then, at that young age – I remember thinking that Wonder Woman was SO beautiful and I wanted to look just like her. I wanted to be WONDER WOMAN…and not just for Halloween. I remember my mother being shocked by her outfit. I guess in this day and age fewer mothers would be shocked. Ahhhh, the media hype sending such messages to young girls, even back then – to be perfect, to be beautiful, to show off your cleavage. I SO very much wanted to be her when I grew up.

Now some may argue that as a grown-up mother of four who runs a household of 7, works for myself and keeps up with way too much laundry … that I may indeed have achieved my Wonder Woman status … but alas, I do not look anything remotely like her, and I shall not be wearing any such costume, not even to the beach (maybe Halloween, yet I somehow doubt that).

Others may argue that I pose my Wonder Woman pose so much in photos that I am indeed secretly still longing to be her.  No, not really.  I just never know what to do with my arms. Truth be told, I still am slightly uncomfortable having my picture taken a lot; but I do it anyway.  Largely because people ask me to keep posting selfies and photos showing that I am maintaining the weight loss.  Also, so my kids will have tons of pics of their mom being active and doing stuff … not couch surfing.  Sometimes I think I’ll stop posting pictures so much on social media, for fear of appearing vain or attention seeking.  Then, without fail, some random person I never even knew was paying attention, will message me with an uplifting message and encourage me to carry on.  So I do.  Now if some people find me vain or attention seeking, that’s fine.  They can ‘un-follow’.  No biggie.  And you know what, that’s okay. I like me, as is. I am a work in progress of course – constantly learning and striving to be healthier.  If I manage to motivate someone, somewhere, to make better habits, get their kids active, enjoy nature, whatever … it’s worth a few nay-sayers or haters. Truly.

I wonder how many pictures I can find of me in my ‘Wonder Woman’ pose.  Just for kicks, or for your amusement, I’ll post a few here.  You have my permission to laugh at me or make fun of me.  Truly, my skin is thick.  These pics are in random order and some are current and some were during my weight loss journey.

I no longer have a desire to be wonder woman, I’m thinking I want to be longevity woman! Despite how I often pose in pics.

As always, make champion choices,
The Healthy Habit Lady

  1. Hey wonder woman! I guess you could call me “figure woman”, because I STILL subconsciously do the “figure pose” for pictures.
