So, you’re not a reader. Well – – read a book anyway. Make the time. Sometimes ya just gotta do it. I have several that earn that phrase ‘changed my life’. I’m not an avid book reader in that I have piles and piles laying around to step over; but I do like to read. I like non-fiction as well as fiction. I like real books as well as my Kindle. I do own entire too many books that sit on my shelves; despite the hundreds I just recently gave away and donated. Yes – – we own a lot of books.
But nonetheless; here is my list of books that I read at different times in my life, for different reasons, and they each affected me in great ways. I inhaled them all word by word. So, thus, they are highly recommended by little…

What was the last lie you told? Who did you tell a lie? Was it yourself? IF so, stop doing that. I’ve always told my kids never lie to your doctor or your mama. We could probably add lawyer to the list. Like how on Earth is your doctor going to help you or heal you if you are providing false information? So please do not lie to your doctor; but definitely do not lie to yourself.
Here’s the thing …. do you even know if you’re lying? Maybe it’s a false illusion. Maybe it is a wish you are turning into a reality. Maybe it’s denial. At any rate; it is very difficult to grow, change or evolve and improve if you are working with bad data. Self awareness is a beautiful thing. What are you good at? What are you bad at? Where do you struggle? Where do you thrive? What frustrates the heck out of you? What elates you? Do you even know? IF not, figure that crap out.
Before I could change my lifestyle and get healthy; and lose weight, I had to get down and dirty 100% real with myself. I had to call myself out on my own bullshit. It is very difficult to lose weight if you do not know why you’re fat. You may lose it temporarily, but if you do not get to the core of the problem, the weight will return with avengance. Name your demons, one by one. Celebrate your wins, regardless how small.

Once upon a time; I read a book called “7 Habits of Highly Effective Families”! So, In this book, Stephen Covey compares a successful family to an airplane pilot with a flight plan. For the pilot, the flight plan identifies the destination and outlines the path to getting there. But during the course of the flight … things like wind, rain, turbulence, air traffic, human error and other factors act upon that plane. Throughout the trip, there are slight deviations from the flight plan. But barring anything too major, the plane will arrive at its destination because the pilot is constantly adjusting to get back on course and get BACK to the flight plan. He used a statistic saying pilots are off their flight plan like 90 – 99% of the time, due to bumps and interruptions etc. – but the reason they arrive at the correct destination is because they are constantly working to adjust for such and get back to the PLAN.
I believe that this principle can be used towards your fitness and wellness plans as well. We need to make sure we have a unique “flight plan” that reflects our values and principles … and one that that enables us to successfully handle bumps and interruptions and thus reach our desired “destination.” Because let’s face it … no plan is perfect and there will ALWAYS be obstacles, bumps and interruptions, right?
I always say ‘A Goal Without A Plan Is Just A Wish’ ! I even got an artist friend of mine to paint it on a wooden sign so I can hang it in my house. I love this daily reminder to constantly adjust my course to stay on PLAN and reach my DESTINATION.
